Aesthetically, antique mirror works well in both traditional and contemporary kitchens, and its ability to hide splash-marks helps on a practical level too.

Our variety of antiqued mirror glass styles include our handmade range which can be toughened with bespoke distressing and a beautiful collection of ready-made styles.

Toughened Antique Mirror Splashbacks

Typically splashbacks are toughened, particularly if positioned right next to a heat source like an Aga or gas hob.

As a kitchen splashback, provided the heat source is at least 200mm from the mirror, and no pan can rest directly on the glass while on the hob, then toughening is not essential.

If cut-outs are required for sockets or switches, provided they are more than 50mm from the edge of the glass (or another socket), then toughening is not needed. If you are in doubt about the toughening options (which may determine your choice of style), we recommend you take some photos of the area in question and forward them to us so that we can provide advice.

From fully clad bathroom walls, shower enclosures through to stand-alone feature mirrors, antique mirror creates a stunning effect in any bathroom, accentuating the lighting and creating a sense of added depth to the space. What’s more is that cleaning is a breeze as glass is very easy to keep clean with a simple wipe.

Hand Silvered and Distressed Splashback

This Original Vintage antique mirror splashback panel was hand silvered and distressed in our workshop. This allows the intensity of antiquing to be specified and our customer asked for a medium level of distressing intensity with naturally concentrated perimeter edges. Gorgeous!

Installations, Glass Shaping and Layout Configurations

For some styles we can offer lengths of up to 3 metres (provided the height is no more than 1 metre), but sometimes long lengths are best divided into 3 panels for both aesthetic and practical requirements, especially in relation to access and installation.

Tiled based layouts are also popular, especially with the handmade styles because each panel is unique to itself creating a dramatic effect of authentic distressed look and feel.

Lead times range from 2 to 6 weeks depending on the chosen style. We also offer a full survey and installation service, which includes two site visits in and around the London, Surrey and the South East areas including all adhesives and sealants.
